How do you feel about pronouncements? ‘Cause this trailer is just full of them. And the most important of these fervent statements may be David Oyelowo explaining, “If you boil the pact down to one rule, it’s do not say you want to go outside. Or you will go outside.”
What’s outside? Death, apparently. In this dystopia—adapted from Hugh Howey’s books—inside the silo is safe. Outside is bad.
Or is it?
Silo comes from creator/showrunner Graham Yost (Justified), and stars a fairly incredible ensemble cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, Iain Glen, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, and Tim Robbins.
Here’s how Apple explains the story:
Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.
Remember when the survivors of The 100 had to live in an underground bunker for a while? That went so well for them!
Doomy pronouncements aside, there is some pretty intriguing imagery in here: what looks like some kind of giant spider machine; an underground field of corn; and the mechanical department, which is full of people who have ideas about the origins of the silo.
Are any of them correct? Find out when Silo premieres on May 5th.
